Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the man accused of masterminding the September 11, 2001 attacks, will finally stand trial on June 5, 2028, a military judge ruled Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Michael Schrama set the date for Mohammed and three alleged co-conspirators, who are held at the U.S. military base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.
Prosecutors had asked for the trial to begin in January 2027. The judge rejected that date.
