Ravens' Bateman Charged Over Car Smash, Baby Inside

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman was arrested in Georgia in June and faces three charges over an alleged family violence incident in which he is accused of smashing the windshield and driver's side window of his ex-girlfriend's car while their 3-month-old child sat in the back seat.
The arrest, first reported Friday by TMZ from court documents, is more than two months old and had not been public until now.
Bateman has kept practicing with the Ravens through training camp ahead of the 2026 season.

Authorities say Bateman used an object to break the windshield and driver's side window of a 2021 Mercedes-Benz belonging to the alleged victim, the mother of his child, in Georgia, according to TMZ's account of the court records. The couple's 3-month-old child was reportedly in the back of the vehicle.
The arrest warrant states that the broken glass left multiple small cuts on the woman's face. The Daily Mail reported that police described multiple small facial lacerations and contusions, with officers observing glass fragments on her face during their initial interview.
Bateman surrendered to the Walton County Sheriff, according to his attorneys.
TMZ obtains the court documents and reports the arrest. Fox News and USA Today report he faces three charges stemming from the incident.
Reactions
"It is unfortunate that a personal family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons," Bateman's lawyer, Jordan Siev, told TMZ. "We will let the court process play out and the facts will come out at that time."
The Ravens said they knew about it. "We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him," the team said in a statement. "We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment."
What's Next
The case moves through the Georgia courts, where Bateman's lawyers say the facts will come out. The Ravens say they have notified the NFL league office, which handles player conduct matters separately from the criminal process. Bateman has not been charged with any offense beyond the three counts tied to the June 3 incident, and no conviction has been entered.

Bateman, 26, was Baltimore's first-round pick in 2021, taken 27th overall out of Minnesota. In five seasons with the Ravens he has 157 catches for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns. His best year was 2024: 45 catches, 756 yards and nine touchdowns. Last season he appeared in 13 games with 12 starts but finished with just 19 receptions for 224 yards and two scores.
Last summer he signed a three-year extension worth $36.75 million, with $20 million guaranteed.
