Snap Launches $2,195 AR Glasses With Nvidia, Salesforce

Snap unveiled its Specs augmented-reality glasses at a Los Angeles event Wednesday, priced at $2,195 and sold alongside enterprise partnerships with Nvidia, Amazon Web Services and Salesforce.
CEO Evan Spiegel pitched the device as a standalone computer rather than a phone accessory, aimed at factory floors, retail and field service work where a desktop is impractical.
Reviewers who tried the glasses at Snap's headquarters came away split — impressed by the hardware, unconvinced the everyday use case is there yet.
The Specs
Snap says the glasses weigh 132 grams in the smaller of two sizes, come in 47mm and 52mm lens options, and offer a 51-degree field of view — up from 45 degrees on the earlier developer model. Buyers at the reveal were asked for a $200 refundable deposit. Gizmodo reported the package includes a cellular charging case, so the glasses don't have to lean on Wi-Fi, and a gesture that snaps a Snapchat photo when the wearer snaps their fingers.

Reactions
Snap's enterprise pitch leans on Salesforce: the company's Agentforce AI platform will run inside the glasses for workplace tasks, and Snap also announced Specs Intelligence, a cross-device AI assistant spanning the glasses, iPhones and Macs. Pricing for that assistant has not been set.
Reviewers were friendlier to the hardware than the concept. CNET asked whether the device is "a business tool, or a theme park for my face," and said it was leaning toward the latter. The Verge called them "strange glasses with weird ideas." Gizmodo's verdict: "dorky, fun, and potentially too ambitious."
Engadget was warmer, writing that the glasses ship with AR apps that "actually feel useful" — while questioning whether that is enough to move a $2,195 product.
What's Next
Shipping begins later this fall in the United States, the United Kingdom and France.
The open questions are whether enterprise customers buy AR glasses at scale after similar devices from Microsoft and Meta failed to break into mainstream use, whether Snap can widen the field of view enough for shared AR in future versions, and what Specs Intelligence will cost.
