Trump Picks Scavino to Lead WH Personnel Office

The announcement makes Scavino’s appointment official. The Washington Examiner previously reported he was expected to fill Gor’s position following confirmation by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in August.

Scavino will start his new post amid the government shutdown, which has yet to be resolved nearly two weeks after it went into effect.

Trump and Scavino have known each other since 1990, when the latter served as a golf caddie at Trump’s golf club in New York. Scavino then rose through the ranks of the Trump Organization and later the White House.

Scavino worked in Trump’s three presidential campaigns, the president’s first White House term, and his transition team following the Biden administration. Since January, he has served as one of Trump’s deputy chiefs of staff. Scavino remains one of Trump’s most loyal aides.

Their decadeslong relationship was nowhere more apparent than Trump’s public congratulations of Scavino’s proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Erin Elmore.

“What a great couple,” he posted on social media late last month. “Congratulations!”
