US Brands Palestine Action a Terrorist Group
The News
The Trump administration designated Palestine Action, a British protest group, as a terrorist organization on Wednesday — putting it on a US list that already includes Hamas, al-Qaeda and Islamic State.
The Treasury Department sanctioned the group as a transnational terrorist organization, blocking any property it holds in the United States or through American citizens.
US nationals are now barred from doing business with the group or donating to it. Supporters of Palestine Action may be barred from entering the United States for life, according to the Daily Mail.
Treasury also sanctioned an Italy-based entity accused of supplying digital services to antifa and other far-left groups.

Britain proscribed Palestine Action under its Terrorism Act. More than 2,700 arrests have been made under that law since the ban, per the Daily Mail.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio convened officials from more than 60 countries to discuss what he called "far-left terror," according to the Jerusalem Post.
The Treasury Department announced the sanctions and the terrorist designation.
Reactions
The Jerusalem Post reported that Democratic lawmakers have raised concerns that the administration is politicizing counterterrorism and pulling resources away from other extremist threats.
The New Republic framed the move as part of a broader Trump administration campaign against leftist movements worldwide.
The underlying dispute is whether Palestine Action's direct-action tactics — property destruction aimed at defense companies — amount to terrorism or to protected political dissent.
What's Next
Co-founder Huda Ammori won permission to appeal Britain's terrorism ban to the UK Supreme Court. A hearing is expected between Oct. 1 and Dec. 21.
In Britain, 1,855 people charged over carrying placards supporting Palestine Action have had their cases adjourned until Oct. 26, pending that appeal.
Open question in Washington: how broadly the administration applies this far-left counterterrorism framework to other organizations.
