Dominion, Giuliani Settle $1.3B Defamation Suit

The company filed a lawsuit against Giuliani in 2021, citing multiple social media posts made by the Republican. He said the company helped rig the election against Trump and flipped votes in favor of former President Joe Biden.

But they noted that the Trump campaign did not mention them in their complaint about the election.

“Notably, although Dominion machines were used in Pennsylvania in the 2020 election, the Trump Campaign’s complaint did not include any allegations about Dominion,” the company’s lawyers said in the lawsuit in January 2021.

The allegations against Dominion Voting Systems were one of many following President Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss. Trump argued that the election was rigged.

Media outlets like Fox News and Newsmax also settled lawsuits with Dominion Voting Systems. Fox News settled with the company for $787.5 million in 2023, and Newsmax paid $67 million.

Giuliani has faced several financially damaging lawsuits in recent months. He was recently ordered to pay his former lawyers more than $1.36 million for unpaid legal fees.

He settled a lawsuit with two Georgia election workers after a jury ordered him to pay them $148 million. The former mayor had claimed the two workers helped Democrats steal the election.

The Republican was allowed to keep personal assets like the World Series rings gifted to him from the New York Yankees from 1994 to 2001.
