Emails: Melania Praised Epstein Article to Maxwell

The News

Melania Trump praised an article written about Jeffrey Epstein in an email to Ghislaine Maxwell, newly-released Epstein files suggest.

In a 2002 email addressed to “G” and signed “Love, Melania”, Trump apparently told Maxwell she looked great in a photo featured in a New York Magazine profile of Jeffrey Epstein. She described the piece as a “nice story”.

However, the new message seemingly sheds further light on the relationship between the two women.

Another email in the tranche of files, sent to Epstein the day after Trump won the 2016 presidential election, reveals that US president apparently repeatedly called his wife a “hot piece of ass” when he met her.

Timeline

Friday morning

The email was one of nearly three million documents released by the US justice department on Friday morning.

The sender, whose name has been redacted, recalled flying back with Trump on his private jet on a weekend they went to visit Epstein in Florida.

Reactions

“Nice story about JE [Jeffrey Epstein] in NY mag. You look great on the picture,” Trump apparently wrote.

“I know you are very busy flying all over the world. How was Palm Beach? I cannot wait to go down. Give me a call when you are back in NY. Have a great time! Love, Melania.”

Another email released on Friday revealed Maxwell giving an affectionate reply, calling the sender “sweet pea”.

“Actually plans changed again and I am now on my way back to NY. I leave again on Fri so I still do not think I have time to see you sadly. I will try and call though,” the email reads. “Keep well.”

“He kept on coming out of the bedroom saying ‘wow what a hot piece of ass,’” the individual wrote. “Nuts.”

More

Trump has been pictured with Maxwell on at least three occasions, and with Epstein at least once, in the early 2000s alongside Donald Trump.

Epstein was featured in a piece for the magazine in October that year. Maxwell, currently serving a 20–year sentence for sex trafficking, is repeatedly referred to and pictured in the piece.

Trump was interviewed as part of the New York Magazine piece, and called Epstein a “terrific guy” who is “a lot of fun to be with”.

“It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life,” he added.

The publication of the emails coincides with the release of the first lady’s new Amazon documentary, titled Melania, in cinemas. The film documents the first lady’s life in the run up to her husband’s second inauguration.
