The Kennedy Center's board voted Thursday to put President Trump's name back on the building — months after a federal judge blocked an effort to rename the institution after him, KXAN and WKBN reported.
Rather than rename the center, the Trump-aligned board approved an inscription to be added beneath the existing Kennedy Center sign reading: "Restored and Renovated By President Donald J. Trump," according to the Washington Examiner and RSBNetwork.
Fox News reported exclusively that the Board of Trustees also voted to name the institution's grounds "President Donald J. Trump Plaza" as the renovation begins.
Two-year closure, again
The board also voted a second time to close the performing arts complex for a two-year renovation, CTV News reported, citing two people briefed on the decision. An earlier closure vote was blocked in court.

Reaction
Former CNN correspondent Jim Acosta reacted furiously to the vote, saying "somebody needs to go to jail," per Raw Story. Conservative outlets including Twitchy and BizPac Review mocked the response and framed the vote as the board routing around an adverse ruling.

A court ruling in May ordered the center to remove the president's name from the building, The Week reported. Raw Story reported the judge ordered the name taken off because Congress only authorized Kennedy's name on the institution.
