Norway Wealth Fund Posts Record $184 Billion Profit
The News
Norway's sovereign wealth fund — the world's largest — posted a record profit of $184 billion in the first half of 2026, driven largely by its big holdings in US technology companies.
The fund returned 9.4% over the six months and is now valued at around $2.34 trillion.
Alongside the results, the fund disclosed a $1.2 billion stake in Elon Musk's SpaceX for the first time.
Timeline
Reuters reported the fund holds a $1.2 billion stake in SpaceX, its first public disclosure of the position.
The fund reported its record $184 billion first-half profit and a 9.4% return.
More
The fund invests in more than 7,000 companies across 60 countries.
According to CNBC, its US tech holdings — including Nvidia and Apple — powered the gains, and the SpaceX position marked the first time the fund revealed a stake in Musk's rocket company.
Bloomberg reported the 9.4% first-half return was helped by the fund's large positions in American technology firms.
What's Next
The fund will report full-year results at year's end, when the durability of its tech-driven gains will be tested.
