Stephen Bear Jailed Again Over Secret Brazil Trip

The News
British reality TV star Stephen Bear, 36, was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison on Friday for breaking the rules of the sex offender register, after slipping out of the UK to Brazil without telling police.
Bear admitted five failures to comply with register requirements at Thames Magistrates' Court, where Deputy District Judge Claire Pithie handed down the sentence.
It is his second jail term in eight days. Last week he was sentenced to 16 months for breaching a restraining order protecting his ex-girlfriend Georgia Harrison.
Timeline
Bear is jailed for 21 months for uploading a private sex tape of Harrison to his OnlyFans page. Prosecutors said he made £22,305 from subscribers. He is placed on the sex offenders' register and serves roughly half the term before release.
Bear travels to Brazil without notifying police, as the register requires. While abroad he obtains a new passport and two bank cards — also without telling police — and, according to The Independent, taunts police from a Brazilian beach.
Bear returns to the UK after his father's death, his defense said. He fails to report his return within the required three days.
Bear is jailed for 16 months for breaching the restraining order involving Harrison.
He is sentenced to 24 weeks for the five register breaches.
Reactions
Judge Pithie noted in court that Bear has a baby on the way, according to reports of the hearing.
Bear's defense told the court his return to Britain was prompted by the death of his father.
The British press showed no sympathy. The Sun labeled him a "revenge porn fiend" jailed "AGAIN," while The Independent described a "disgraced TV star" who taunted police from a beach while on the run from his reporting obligations.
What's Next
It has not been reported whether the 24-week term will run concurrently with or consecutively to the 16-month sentence imposed last week — that determines when Bear actually gets out.
Bear remains subject to sex offender register requirements after release, including the notification rules he has now been convicted of breaking five times.
It is also unclear what action, if any, Brazilian or British authorities took over his time abroad.
More
The Harrison case became a landmark in Britain's fight over image-based sexual abuse. Harrison waived her right to anonymity to campaign publicly after Bear posted CCTV footage of the pair from his garden, and her campaign helped push British lawmakers toward tougher penalties for sharing intimate images without consent. Bear's repeat breaches are the test of whether the enforcement machinery behind those laws has teeth.
