Three Stabbed in Crown Heights Before J'Ouvert
The News
Three men were stabbed in Brooklyn's Crown Heights early Monday morning, hours before the West Indian American Day parade was set to step off, according to police.
A 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were stabbed in the neck and a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the face near Carroll Street and Utica Avenue around 5:48 a.m., cops said.
EMS took all three to Kings County Hospital, where the 32-year-old remains in critical condition. The 23-year-old and the 36-year-old were listed in stable condition, police said.
No arrests have been made.

The stabbings happened blocks from the pre-dawn J'Ouvert Festival, which begins at 6 a.m. and runs until the parade starts at 11 a.m.

"Thousands of NYPD cops will be on the parade routes and in the surrounding neighborhoods from Sunday night through Monday. This is one of our department's largest deployments of the year at this time," Commissioner Tisch said Friday.
Police said the parade will be promptly shut down at 5:30 p.m., a decision Tisch tied to six people being shot during last year's festivities.
The Daily Wire reported that the NYPD's deployment along Eastern Parkway and nearby streets includes security checkpoints and metal detectors on the route.

No one has been arrested and police have not released a description of a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
The 32-year-old victim's condition was listed as critical as of Monday morning; the other two men were stable.
The parade is set to be shut down at 5:30 p.m. Monday under the NYPD's plan.

Six people were injured across three separate shootings near the parade route last year, and two of those cases remain unsolved, according to police cited by Gothamist and reported by the Daily Wire.
The Daily Wire also noted earlier deadly incidents connected to the event: 25-year-old Denzel Chan was fatally shot along the route in 2024, and Carey Gabay, an aide to then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was killed by a stray bullet during J'Ouvert festivities in 2015.
