CNN went dark on Monday during the noon hour on the East Coast after a technical issue at parent company Warner Bros. Discovery knocked out its signal for roughly half an hour.
The failure was not limited to CNN. HBO, TNT, TBS and other Warner Bros. Discovery channels were also disrupted, according to CNN.
The outage cut across distribution points at once — cable, streaming and app users all lost the feed. Some viewers saw scrambled or pixelated screens before the picture went out entirely.
Service was back by 12:51 p.m. ET, when anchor Dana Bash addressed it on air.

CNN itself reported the outage, saying the technical issue ran across Warner Bros. Discovery's channels rather than being confined to the news network.
Trade outlets covered it quickly. Variety noted CNN blamed "technical issues" for the channel loss; Deadline pinned the restoration to Bash's 12:51 p.m. on-air update; Mediaite framed it as nearly 30 minutes of dead air.
